After resigning from a corporate position in 2016 after 20 years of working for a major corporation EssilorLuxottica, Charlene Nichols' focus shifted to empowering independently owned optical and optometry businesses especially black owned and women owned businesses by making technology more accessible and affordable. Nichols' did this by building a scalable digital marketing infrastructure and by getting members of the independent supply chain involved in the solution. This led to the development of a virtual community and trade show called My Vision Show. The needs of the community evolved and the need was met by developing The Optical Metaverse. This was so successful for the optical industry that it was opened up for other verticals such as fashion and art. This is The Omniverse City.
